PSL 3: KK v PZ – Peshawar Zalmi Defeated Karachi Kings by 44 Runs

Despite the adventurous innings of Babar Azam, Peshawar Zalmi has defeated Karachi Kings by 44 runs and brightened the hopes to access to the playoff.

In the match being played in Sharjah, Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and chose to bat first, but the decision went wrong in the beginning. On one occasion Zalmi scored only 3 runs in four overs by dismissing Mohammad Hafeez’s wicket.

Coming to the situation, Kamran Akmal decided to bat aggressively and almost all the bowlers of Karachi Kings got six from him, but any batsman could not stay with him.

Dewayne Smith 15 and Riki Wessels made just 11 runs and returned to the pavilion, but Kamran Akmal sparked his team’s big score by playing 75 runs in an innings with six sixes and three fours at 51 balls.

The wicketkeeper-batsman looked forward to his century, but Usman Shinwari lost his innings and gave a major success to the team.

After the wicket of Kamran Akmal, Peshawar Zalmi’s biggest score was expected to be fall again But captain Darren Sammy and Saad Nasim scored 28 runs with the help of 4 fours in an inning of Mohammad Irfan. However, Mohammad Amir made 13 runs with three fours in the next and gave a challenge to Karachi Kings.

Saad Nasim scored 35 runs on 18 balls and returned to the pavilion, but Darren Sammy continued his aggressively batting from the second end and scored 36 runs in 15 balls.

Peshawar Zalmi made 181 runs with the loss of six wickets in the given overs.

Usman Shinwari got three wickets for just 11 runs while doing excellent bowling from Karachi Kings.

Karachi Kings started pursuing the target, no batsman except Babar Azam could not face Napier bowling of Zalmi’s bowlers, and all the players gave wickets one by one and went back to the pavilion.

On one occasion, Karachi scored 64 runs at the loss of four wickets in which 46 runs were Babar Azam’s.

Shahid Afridi started playing aggressively in a traditional style but returned to the pavilion while playing the unbeaten shot. After playing an innings of 26 runs with four sixes on eight balls.

Babar Azam played 66 runs of an innings with four fours and four sixes, but Wahab Riaz also eliminated his wicket and ended the only hope of winning of Karachi Kings.

The entire team of Karachi Kings made 138 runs at the loss of eight wickets in the given overs and Peshawar Zalmi won the match by 44 runs.

Who Will Play The Playoff?

Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators have been qualified for the next phase and to qualify for the next phase of the event, Peshawar Zalmi needs an essential victory in the next match, while defeat in the next match, they will be out of the tournament.

If Peshawar Zalmi gets success in next match, Multan Sultans and Karachi Kings will compete for a playoff.

After victory in the last match of Peshawar Zalmi, if Karachi Kings succeed in winning the next match, they will be qualified, but if they defeat in the next match, the better run rate of a team from the Sultan and the Kings will reach the playoff.
