Match 23: Gladiators’ First Position On Points Table, Zalmi Defeated

In the 23rd  match of the third edition of the Pakistan Super League, thanks to the excellent performance of Shane Watson and captain Sarfraz Ahmed, Quetta Gladiators defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 6 wickets and got the first position on the points table.

Sarfraz Ahmed, the captain of Quetta Gladiators, won the toss in Dubai, invited Peshawar Zalmi to bat.

Peshawar Zalmi started an innings when Kamran Akmal could not secure his wickets at the first over and sat on the first ball by Mohammad Nawaz.

Dawyne Smith bowled out with 56 runs for the second wicket with Mohammad Hafeez, which included 49 runs in the innings of Smith’s, but he scored Shane Watson on a run by half a century.

The new batsman Riki Wessels and Hafeez reached the score to 89, so it seemed like the Peshawar Zalmi team would be able to score 180 to 190 runs, but bowlers of the Gladiators in the middle over were doing the nip bowling made their hopes to end.

Meanwhile, Zalmi counted five wickets with a 12-run margin and once again the batsman’s line was shattered, but Darren Sammy and Wessels took a batting line with a good performance.

Both the players did not give any further wicket and reached the team’s modest combinations by setting up 56 runs for 33 balls. Peshawar Zalmi made 157 for five wickets in the over, Semi 36 and Wessels were unbeaten for 31 runs.

In reply, opener gave Gladiators a reasonable start of 30 runs, Asad Shafiq was the first batsman to score only 9 runs.

Shane Watson continued his best form and once again appeared in the big innings to play but Ummaid Asif could not play a short ball, and Pullen returned after making 37 runs.

Kevin Pietersen scored two fours for Liam Dawson and then wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal got his wicket, while Rameez Raja Junior’s innings were also limited to nine runs.

After falling on 84 runs for four wickets, the Gladiators were looking hard to get success and on this occasion, the captain Sarfraz Ahmed came with Rilee Rossouw.

Both the players move to chase for a target without taking any risk, and scored the 74 runs with the combination of batting. Quetta Gladiators took its fifth victory in the match. Sarfaraz scored 45 runs and Rossouw scored 31.

With the victory in this match, Quetta’s Gladiators team reached the first place on the points table. Sarfraz Ahmed, the captain of Quetta Gladiators, was named Man of the Match in the innings.
